چکیده

We derive and analyze a simplified formulation of the numerical viscosity terms appearing in the expression of the numerical fluxes associated to several High-Resolution Shock-Capturing schemes. After some algebraic preprocessing, we give explicit expressions for the numerical viscosity terms of two of the most widely used flux formulae, which implementation saves computational time in multidimensional simulations of relativistic flows. Additionally, such treatment explicitely cancells and factorizes a number of terms helping to amortiguate the growing of round-off errors. We have checked the performance of our formulation running a 3D relativistic hydrodynamical code to solve a standard test-bed problem and found that the improvement in efficiency is of high practical interest in numerical simulations of relativistic flows in Astrophysics.

Three dimensional relativistic hydrodynamical model for QGP gas

We numerically solve fully (3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamical equation coupled with the baryon number conservation law without spatial symmetry. We discuss the effect of transverse expansion based on the deviation our numerical result from Bjorken’s scaling solution. We analyze the space-time evolution of the QGP gas in the case of non cylindrical initial conditions.

A Powerful Hydrodynamic Booster for Relativistic Jets

Velocities close to the speed of light are a robust observational property of the jets observed in microquasars and AGNs, and are expected to be behind much of the phenomenology of GRBs. Yet, the mechanism boosting relativistic jets to such large Lorentz factors is still essentially unknown. Building on recent general-relativistic, multidimensional simulations of progenitors of short GRBs, we d...

A new general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics code for dynamical spacetimes

We present a new numerical code that solves the general relativistic magneto-hydrodynamical (GRMHD) equations coupled to the Einstein equations for the evolution of a dynamical spacetime within a conformally-flat approximation. This code has been developed with the main objective of studying astrophysical scenarios in which both, high magnetic fields and strong gravitational fields appear, such...

Energy Gain of Magnetized Cylindrical D-T Targets in Fast Ignition Fusion

In recent years, many different plans have been considered to use the nuclear energy gained from inertial confinement fusion (ICF) as attempts to obtain high energy efficiencies. In conventional ICF methods, a small amount (about mg) of the deuterium–tritium compound is confined in a small spherical chamber of a few millimeters in radius and compressed by laser or heavy ion beams with powers in...
